Without inner change, there can be no peace in the world

There are more and more scientific and social advances that help improve people's quality of life. In the 19th century, if you didn't die at birth, you could live to be 50 or 60 years old. Now we can live past 85, and in some cases, beyond 100, but in the end, we will always die.

No matter how hard we try to improve the world and change it, we will never fully succeed, nor will future generations be able to turn this Earth into an ideal paradise, as this is a temporary world of fear, suffering, illness, aging, and death. Therefore, it is useless to invest our precious and limited time in changing it.

What we can do, what is practical, is to change our perception of the world by seeing it as a classroom where we have come to experience the lessons of true forgiveness that will bring us a new vision and moments of inner peace.

Ask yourself this question: How is it possible that, with all the progress we have made as a society, there are still wars in this world?

My answer, quoting UNESCO's founding motto, is: “Since wars begin in the minds of men and women, it is in the minds of men and women that the defenses of peace must be constructed.” In other words, until we who live in this world have inner peace, wars will continue between family members, neighbors, acquaintances, and countries... You can see this in any community in the world where ego manifests itself, as is usually the case, rather than Love.

Revenge does not heal the harm that has been done to you

When faced with obvious injustice, your first impulse is to let yourself be carried away by the ancient and egotistical Law of Retaliation, “an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth,” which leads you into revenge, anger, and violence. This is a mental hell that can affect your health. When you take revenge, you will feel satisfaction, but over time this will turn into guilt and fear as you wait for the other person's response.

Nor is it helpful to repress your anger by looking the other way, pretending that nothing has happened, as your thoughts will remain focused on revenge, which you may somatize and turn into illness.

The same thing happens when your mind remembers unfair situations. You remain anchored in old grudges that you relive as if they were happening right now. Your ego seeks the appropriate response that will crush the other person so that you emerge victorious and get back what you deserve. Or the erroneous “I forgive, but I don't forget.”

If, when faced with a situation that you interpret as unfair, you are able to quiet your thirst for an immediate response, you will change your life in that instant. Stop and open your heart to feel the response of the Being, your essence, which with its whispering and melodious voice will make you understand that that person is acting out of fear and guilt.

The Being will provide you with a new perception of the situation from a compassionate perspective. Another approach that will prevent you from entering the vicious circle of hatred and fear.

You are at a crossroads. You choose which path to follow.

When you see the situation differently, from the perspective of Love, you will find peace.
